This is one of the Ink Blots that I did for Yule/Christmas. I know, ink blots seem to be an odd gift but, for my family, they are not. LOL

It all started with Heroes, the TV show. One of the characters has an ink blot matted and framed on her wall. Every time I see it I am so struck by it... and I usually am not into abstract art... at all. So, at any rate, I was thinking of good gifts for a family of social workers, MSW's and, now, a sister-in-law that is hard to buy for but just became a higher up in the NH department of corrections, (and is a counselor).

I thought, "well, even I, (the anti-abstract person that I am), loves that one ink blot. I wonder how hard they'd be to make and still be aesthetically pleasing?"

In some ways I was very please, in others I was very annoyed. Here are the pros and cons from my process:

Cons:
> I had no ink so I was using acrylic paint
> the single color blots just weren't doing it for me so I started using multiple colors but that made an already tricky process even trickier
> many looked like nothing to me and I found out, a little too late in some cases, that others did see something when I didn't! LOL

Pros:
> it was a challenge to make something pleasing to the eye that also good placement and didn't run off the page
> it was fun to try something new and, (almost), completely spontaneous!
> I can play with the college on my comp. after the fact. This one's a case in point. The original was camo-looking, all green, brown, black and copper. I like this much more!
> it's very neat to see what other people think these are. I saw a similar image in most of mine, which makes me wonder what the heck is up with my wiring! LOL I'll say, after a few folks put what they think it is what I thought of.
> the images can be rotated and flipped and make something new!

So, that was my process. I am making this available as a print, in case others are as enamored by these as I have become. :)

I will also have an inverted option of this one available, black and lime green, after this one!

This image, at full view, is available for download as a screen saver/background, (1024 wide). Feel free to use it but please give credit to GypsyRoses.Org, let me know where you've used it, (if online or in print), and keep the watermark on it. Thanks!

Thanks for looking!

I don't see the fruit, almost all of them look like butterflies to me, for some reason! LOL

Hehe, it looks like a frog to me. I really like this, and the color is really nice too. This is a really good copy, also, it has a lot of depth.

Thanks!

I don't see the frog... hmm, I am curious how it translates into a frog now! :)

I think the acrylic, though a nightmare to use for this purpose, helped with the depth. Thanks very much, glad you like it!
